School Nurse of the Year

CASN School Nurse of the Year

This award is to publicly recognize school nurses in Colorado by annually honoring one school nurse who demonstrated excellence in school nursing practice and leadership in school health. Anyone can submit a nomination.  Information packets will be given to the nominee after they have been notified that they have been nominated.  Nominees must be current members of NASN/CASN, and of the preceding two years with no membership lapse.

The nominee must be a registered professional nurse, and have five years experience as a school nurse, and currently practice full-time as a school nurse (If the only school nurse position in a community involves fewer hours than usual, it will be considered full time for the purpose of this eligibility criteria, also more than 50% of nominee’s time must be spent in direct care). Nominee may not be on the CASN Board.  Evidence of excellence in school nursing practice must be based on the NASN’s Standards of Professional School Nursing Practice (2005).
